Haven’t Got It Yet

What’s the thing you really want… but are yet to have?
And I’m not talking about really wanting a certain item from the store, or craving your favorite meal, or your dream vacation. I’m talking about a big thing; a desire that aches within you. The thing you’ve prayed about a thousand times… only to still be lacking an affirmative answer.
What’s that thing?
For me, it’s progress. To move forward with my life—meet a guy, get married, have kids—instead of going through the motions of my current (single) season.
But God’s not doing that right now.
Perhaps He’s not saying ‘yes’ to your prayers either.
Maybe you’re like me—hearing a ‘not yet’—or a gentle ‘no, I’ve got something better for you,’ or maybe you’re hearing nothing at all. It’s like He’s gone silent, left you alone with your unmet desires gnawing at you.
Friends, allow me to introduce you to this painting. I call it Purple Crocus (not very original, I know), and it’s actually taken me over a year to create it. Not because it was particularly time-consuming or large, but simply because I left it sitting—unfinished, with only a base coat marking its blank background—for a year.
Why’d I do this? Honestly, I was bored with it. Didn’t feel like painting yet another realistic flower when I’d already done a ton of them that spring. And so, it sat. For months. Discarded, with me having no intentions of completing it.
Until a few weeks ago.
Suddenly, I became bored with acrylics and decided to experiment with watercolors. And would ya lookie there—
I spotted this unfinished piece peaking out from beneath my ever-growing pile of papers and canvases. Within days, I’d completed the little flower I’d given up on. And this, dear readers, is a reminder for you…
If you feel like God’s discarded and abandoned you, rest assured that He has not. He’s promised to never leave or forsake you (Deu 31:8). And even if He’s not answering your prayers in the time or fashion you expect…
He will always answer His Children, those who have been adopted into His family by Christ’s blood (1 Pet 3:12). Not always answering with a ‘yes,’ but always with a response (1 John 5:14).
You are not forgotten, and He knows the desires of your heart (Prov 21:2). So keep praying, keep drawing closer to your Maker and Sustainer, and trust that He’s working for your good…
Always and forever, for the good (Rom 8:28).
